Journal Scope

The Latin American Journal of Solids and Structures is a forum for publication and dissemination of original work related to mechanical and civil engineering sciences.

Researchers all over the world are welcome to submit their papers covering theoretical, numerical and experimental topics in continuum and applied mechanics, in both their linear and non-linear aspects. Interest covers inorganic as well as organic solids and structures.

In order to accomplish a high standard, papers submitted to the journal undergo a peer reviewing procedure coordinate by the editorial board and covering the following areas:

Acoustics and Vibration Aerospace Science and Technology
Automotive Engineering Biomechanics
Composite and Cellular Materials Computational Methods
Dynamic Systems & Control Experimental Mechanics
Industrial applications Material Modelling
Microsystems and Machine Design Multiscale phenomena
Nanomechanics New materials
Ocean and Offshore Engineering Optimisation
Safety and Risk Analysis Structural Mechanics
Technology and Society Theoretical and Continuum Mechanics
Thermomechanics and fluid-solid interaction Tribology

Original papers should be self-contained and meet high academic standards. More general review papers will be also considered. Special issues covering some specific topics or areas can be organised upon request of a group of researchers.

The Journal will only accept articles concisely written in English and they should be offer for publication according to the Instructions to Authors. No page limits are set but brief articles will be reviewed as a technical note. Papers describing a mere application of procedures will generally not be accepted.

Discussions on a paper are welcome as well as the authors reply. They will be published in hard copy and appended to the article under consideration. Animation files can be also submitted and will be appended to the article in this site. Please note that animations are for mere illustration purposes only since they cannot be printed.

Submission of a paper implies that it has not been neither submitted nor published elsewhere. A copyright term should be signed prior the publication.

Accepted papers will be published four times a year both electronically in this Journal site and in hard copy, a copy of which will be given to each of the contributing authors free of charge.
